This Weeks Likes and Dislikes August 15, 2010

Hey everyone,

I hope (as always) that ye are enjoying the weekend! I have been so bad to post this week. I would love to say that it was because I was on holidays (unfortunately not) but I have been such a busy bee this week that I  simply didn’t get the time. I hope to make up for this today though :-)

Here are my week’s likes and dislikes:

Likes

  • Random Acts of Kindness

Random acts of kindness are such a lovely thing. For instance, this week I went for a bit of a road trip (and fitted in a little bit of shopping, of course) but by the time I reached the car park it was jammers. I was just about to turn out of the car park when  lovely woman ran up to my car and told me to wait as she was going to be leaving the car park. Not only did she give me her car parking space but she also gave me her parking ticket, which had an hour of parking left. It was such a lovely gesture and really perked me up for the day. If you happen to be this woman and are reading this-thank you so much! I really appreciated it.

Sometimes I lose my faith in mankind, when people are unnecessarily rude to me when I am out and about, but this restored my faith. It made my realize that I don’t do half as many random acts of kindness as I should. However,  am going to rectify this when the opportunity arises.

  • Bright Make-Up

Now, I don’t mean neon, in-you-face, luminous make-up when I say this. I simply mean a nice bright coloured pink lipstick or blusher. I was feeling a little blue the other day, and after putting on my GOSH velvet touch lipstick in timeless (107) and some of my lovely sheer, barbie-pink Smaskbox blusher and I felt so much better. Never under-estimate the power of bit of bright make-up to perk you up!

  • Great new blogs to read

I love finding really great fashion and make-up blogs (particularly Irish ones) to read. I end up reading them start to finish-better than any glossy magazine :-)

Dislikes

  • Step-Up 3D

I had such high hopes for this film, given that I am such a huge fan of Step-Up 1 and 2, however I was really disappointed with this one! (more…)

Total Eclipse of the Heart July 11, 2010

Once upon a time I was falling in love…………

To say I am a little excited about the release of Eclipse is quite a large underestimation :-) As well as being a gleek, I must admit that I am also a Twihard (although what woman isn’t these days!). I am heading to one of the preview shows tomorrow and have my ticket booked and all. I have heard it’s amazing but I will let ye know what I think of it tomorrow or Sunday.

Anyone have any plans to see Eclipse this weekend? Are you on team Edward or team Jacob? When I was reading the books, I was team Edward all the way, but then the movies were released and the strong visual of Taylor Lautner in cut off shorts swayed my opinion. Now I’m team Switzerland ;-)

UPDATE: I’m not going to give too much away about the plot of the film so, for anyone has yet to see Eclipse, this is safe to read…….

I really enjoyed the movie-it was approx. 2 hours in length, so it was great value for money. The ratio of action to romance was just right-plenty of kissing scenes and vampires/werewolves with rippling muscles fighting for anyone that is into that sort of thing :-)

I think that Jasper and Carlisle are going to have a bigger fan base after this movie, as they had much larger roles this time around. Jason Rathbourne a.k.a Jasper, didn’t quite get the smooth Texan drawl but his ‘Thank-ya, mam’ certainly did it for me. That coupled with the charming, debonair Carlisle with his lovely English accent, almost made me forget about Edward and Jacob…..almost!!!

I found that Edward was portrayed a little more aloof and reserved than in the previous movies, which was a little disappointing. With that said, I still loved every minute of it and think I might go to see it again before it leaves the cinema!!!

What did you think of it???

I Nearly Died Laughing When Watching……Killers June 26, 2010

Though this has been out with awhile, I only got around to going to see Killers last night. I wasn’t expecting much, going by the reviews in the paper but am glad I went to see it. Without giving too much away…..

The movie has a James Bond feel to it, from the opening credits to the hot guy (Ashton Kutcher) driving the hot car (a red Ferrari) along winding bending roads with cliffs on one side and the ocean on the other. I quite like James Bond films so I didn’t object!

The movie had some great laughs-apparently ladies, we all end up marrying our fathers so just learn to accept it. I’m sure Frued would agree with this J It also has a ‘not-totally predictable’ plot and keeps you guessing along the way.

Ashton Kutcher is great leading man, and there are plenty of scenes with him half-naked-if your into that sort of thing of course. Katherine Heigl as ever, does well with romantic comedies, though the jury is still out if there was enough chemistry between her and Ashton to be a plausible couple. I’m on the fence with that one.

All in all, it’s a good way to whittle away an evening or night when there’s nothing on the telly and you find yourself at a loss of what to do to entertain yourself.
