Things That I Love #1-Using up Products September 27, 2010

Unfortunately, this isn't the amount of products that I have used up!

There is nothing that I love better than using up a product-even one I love. Some may find it odd, but in one sense I really like when I hit the end of the bottom of a container. Here me out before you judge :-)

  1. Firstly, it means that I have got some value for money, as I have used the product up.
  2. Secondly, it means that I can go skincare/make-up shopping without any guilt to replace or search for an item to replace it. This is the part that I enjoy the most.

While it’s nice to have a decently  sized  skin care and make-up stash, I hate the fact that a lot of it will sit there unused and end up being thrown out, as it is such as waste of money. For me, this is what usually happens with my nail varnishes!

I am currently coming to the end of my Clinique Superbalm lipgloss in 01 apricot, my Benefit Her glossiness nude lips gloss and my Burberry Touch perfume, which brings a smile to my face. I’m a bit weird, I know :-)

Do you like using up products or do you hate reaching the end of a jar/tub/pan, etc.?

The sunglasses in black are to be known as 'the beloved sunglasses' from know on :-)

Have you ever bought something that, regardless of how cheap it was, you would be devastated if you broke/lost it? Well I have!! At the start of the summer, I picked up a gorgeous pair of sunglasses (the glasses above in black) for the bargain price of 3 euro in Dunnes.

Never had I owned a pair of sunglasses that suited my face so well. Of course, I didn’t have the foresight to pick up a second (or third or fourth) pair at the time, and so when the arm of my beloved sunglasses broke, I was devastated!!!

It wasn’t until then that I realised how much I LOVED these glasses. I repaired the arm of the sunglasses with super glue to act as a temporary measure, until I could pick up a new pair but….you’ve guessed it-I couldn’t find any replacement, no matter how many Dunnes Stores I looked in.

After the arm snapping for the second time (and super glue barely keeping my precious sunglasses in one piece) I realised that I might just have to accept defeat :-(

On my last search in a Dunnes I was passing, they were having a sale on sunglasses and I picked up these beauties. (more…)

Hey everyone,

I have been sick the last few days (hence the title of this post) and haven’t been posting as a result. It’s absolutely horrible being sick in the Summer. We get so few sunny days, that I try to make the most of it when  we do. However, I have been stuck inside, surrounded by a mountain of tissues and taking copious amounts of medication. Thankfully, my bout of sickness is near its end, and posting will resume as normal :-)

While I do enjoy the increase in sunshine, the longer days and the brighter colours (both clothes and make-up wise) in the summer, I’m much more of an Autumn/Winter girl.

I love the warm rich colours, the thought of wrapping up and layering clothes and coming home and sitting in front of the fire by nights. I think given our climate in Ireland, as a nation Autumn/Winter clothing at the very least suits us better.

I’m looking forward to updating my wardrobe for the year season!

What about you-are you a spring/summer or an autumn winter when in comes to make-up and fashion?

Just a quick post about myself, which I don’t do that often….

Today started out as a terrible day-I got a rejection letter in the post for a job that I really needed. I was feeling down about it, as it’s hard to pick yourself up and brush yourself off, no matter what the rejection is.

Anyway, I received an email from Lee, who writes a great blog-mwah, that informed me I had won the Body Shop pamper hamper competiton she was running on her blog. It really cheered me up, so thank you very much Lee!!!

It’s amazing how little things (particularly those that are beauty related) can brighten your day

This Weeks Likes and Dislikes August 15, 2010

Hey everyone,

I hope (as always) that ye are enjoying the weekend! I have been so bad to post this week. I would love to say that it was because I was on holidays (unfortunately not) but I have been such a busy bee this week that I  simply didn’t get the time. I hope to make up for this today though :-)

Here are my week’s likes and dislikes:

Likes

  • Random Acts of Kindness

Random acts of kindness are such a lovely thing. For instance, this week I went for a bit of a road trip (and fitted in a little bit of shopping, of course) but by the time I reached the car park it was jammers. I was just about to turn out of the car park when  lovely woman ran up to my car and told me to wait as she was going to be leaving the car park. Not only did she give me her car parking space but she also gave me her parking ticket, which had an hour of parking left. It was such a lovely gesture and really perked me up for the day. If you happen to be this woman and are reading this-thank you so much! I really appreciated it.

Sometimes I lose my faith in mankind, when people are unnecessarily rude to me when I am out and about, but this restored my faith. It made my realize that I don’t do half as many random acts of kindness as I should. However,  am going to rectify this when the opportunity arises.

  • Bright Make-Up

Now, I don’t mean neon, in-you-face, luminous make-up when I say this. I simply mean a nice bright coloured pink lipstick or blusher. I was feeling a little blue the other day, and after putting on my GOSH velvet touch lipstick in timeless (107) and some of my lovely sheer, barbie-pink Smaskbox blusher and I felt so much better. Never under-estimate the power of bit of bright make-up to perk you up!

  • Great new blogs to read

I love finding really great fashion and make-up blogs (particularly Irish ones) to read. I end up reading them start to finish-better than any glossy magazine :-)

Dislikes

  • Step-Up 3D

I had such high hopes for this film, given that I am such a huge fan of Step-Up 1 and 2, however I was really disappointed with this one! (more…)

Hello everyone,

I hope that ye all have enjoyed ye’re August bank holiday. Mines been as busy one-I was rocking it out at the Indie-pendence festival in Cork for the weekend and had an absolute blast! It involved chocolate fountains, sore feet, camera batteries running out, make-up that didn’t budge for the day, smelly port-a-loos, yummy pad thai chicken noodles, excellent music, a few celeb spottings and much, much more.

All will be revealed soon, once I manage to catch up on the the work I let slide while at said festival, and upload my festival pictures ;-)

How was your weekend? What did you get up to?

Mamma Mia! Here we go again…. July 30, 2010

Thank god for the weekend!!!!

I have some plans in motion already. I’m off to Mamma Mia at the Marquee, in Cork tomorrow night. I received tickets to the show as a Christmas pressie so I have been looking forward to this for a loooong time :-)

I have high hopes for the show as I love ABBA songs, and am a huge fan of Mamma Mia the movie as well as musicals in general. I will let ye know how it goes.

Any plans for your weekend yet???

Update:

The show was absolutely amazing!!! If I could afford to buy another ticket to go and see it again I would. The seats were really comfortable and there was plenty of leg room (always a bonus). The music for the show was played live by an extraordinarily talented bunch of musicians who would stop playing the keyboard for a second, only to pick up the their guitars and continue playing. The cast were also very talented, particularly the male cast members. Their gorgeousness did distract me a time or three from concentrating solely on the singing/dancing/acting. I have gone to see a fair few musicals in the past and Mamma Mia is by far my favourite.

Has anyone been to see Mamma Mia before? What are you’re thoughts?
