The kind people from Voya, in Sligo sent me on a product of theirs to try-Voya Lazy Days Seaweed bath. I have always been interested in trying seaweed products, given that seaweed is noted as being particularly good for people who have eczema and psoriasis (that would be me then). There are a number of benefits from using this product, so don’t discount it if you don’t have eczema or psoriasis. Here are just some of the benefits:

Harvested Seaweed

VOYA Lazy Days seaweed bath:

  • Naturally soothes & moisturises
  • Helps against the signs of ageing
  • Natural anti-cellulite properties
  • Improves suppleness and elasticity of skin
  • Traditionally used in the care and repair of the skin
  • Cleanses and purifies
  • Tones and stimulates the skin
  • Boosts thyroid activity

So, what can you expect when you get your Lazy Days box?

The Lazy Days seaweed bath contains organic, harvested dehydrated seaweed, and comes in a beautiful brown and green box, as you can see above. The seaweed itself is contained in a net bag, with Dead Sea salts, that are wrapped up in plastic. The great thing about the netting, is that you get to have a seaweed bath without the mess, as (more…)

I was fortunate enough to be  sent this to try awhile ago, given that I am such a huge Batiste fan. I like natural products so, I was eager to give this a try. This dry shampoo contains 100% natural ingredients, is fragrance free, comes in a recyclable bottle-a claim not many dry shampoo’s can make!

If you would like some more information about the dry shampoo, here’s what the Batiste website says about it:

Nude is the dry shampoo for green girls everywhere. 100% natural powder and fragrance-free. You’ll get lots of uses from this squeezable, recyclable bottle with an easy-to-use nozzle applicator. Go Nude today for clean fresh hair that’s plumped up and full of body and texture. Fewer washes are kinder to your hair and the environment too!

Things That I Love #1-Using up Products September 27, 2010

Unfortunately, this isn't the amount of products that I have used up!

There is nothing that I love better than using up a product-even one I love. Some may find it odd, but in one sense I really like when I hit the end of the bottom of a container. Here me out before you judge :-)

  1. Firstly, it means that I have got some value for money, as I have used the product up.
  2. Secondly, it means that I can go skincare/make-up shopping without any guilt to replace or search for an item to replace it. This is the part that I enjoy the most.

While it’s nice to have a decently  sized  skin care and make-up stash, I hate the fact that a lot of it will sit there unused and end up being thrown out, as it is such as waste of money. For me, this is what usually happens with my nail varnishes!

I am currently coming to the end of my Clinique Superbalm lipgloss in 01 apricot, my Benefit Her glossiness nude lips gloss and my Burberry Touch perfume, which brings a smile to my face. I’m a bit weird, I know :-)

Do you like using up products or do you hate reaching the end of a jar/tub/pan, etc.?

Lipstick I’m Loving Right Now-Bare Escentuals Perfect Mauve September 27, 2010

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the brief blogging hiatus-I have been crazy busy with work and haven’t had a chance to blog lately :-( That is going to be rectified effective immediately :-)

A lipstick that I have been reaching for a lot lately is Bare Escentuals Perfect Mauve. I got this as part of a set for my birthday a while back, so I don’t know the exact price. According to the Bare Escentuals website though, this set retails at $30-not a bad price for three good quality products;  a matching lip liner, lipstick and gloss.

While I use the gloss and the lipstick a lot from this set, I haven’t used the lip liner much, as this isn’t a product that is part of my make-up routine.

According the Bare Escentuals website, the lipstick is:

  • 100% Natural
  • Naturally decadent, creamy and long-lasting
  • Uses a healthy mix of 100% pure bareMinerals

This is a great day time lipstick. For me, it is a few shades darker and richer than my natural lip colour, which I like. If you like to know my thoughts on it, read the Pro/Con list below: (more…)

Rings And Things September 13, 2010

Cute, no?

I was having a browse in town today, when I popped into a lovely boutique that stocks amazing jewellery. While drooling over having a look at their autumn/winter jewellery stock, I came across a brand that I had never heard of before-designsix.

I love the costume jewellery by this brand-it was really different to anything I had seen before, looked really opulent and wasn’t too expensive for high-end, good quality costume jewellery.

What I was really taken by was this butter soft, leather flower ring.  I love these big rings that have been in fashion for the last year or two, but given that these rings are usually made from cheap metals, they turn the skin of my finger a lovely shade of green. Given that this was a look that I didn’t want-I always stayed away from the large costume jewellery rings…..until now! As this ring is made from leather, and not  metal, it wouldn’t turn my skin a funny colour-Eureka :-)

The only colour left in the shop was black. Once the shop assistant told me it was available in other colours, I decided to wait and see the other colours first before buying. I had a look on ebay, and lo and behold, I found the ring that I was admiring in an array of colours and oh so much cheaper than its shop counterpart. In the shop, the ring cost 12 euro, but on ebay (including shipping) I bought mine for £4.25/5.20euro. Not a bad saving :-)

I decided to go for the burnished gold flower leather ring-which will compliment most outfits and ensures that I get plenty of wear.

What do you think of my purchase? Have you any jewellery from this brand?

*UPDATE:*

I received my ring a few days and love it!!! No green marks or stains where the ring has been at all. The only thing is, is that I forget the ring is leather, and therefore no as resilient to water. Note to self-remove ring before washing hands or I will run it :-)

I had high hopes for Garnier’s mineral roll on 48 hour ultra dry deodorant. It was a good price-I picked mine for half price in Tesco, for 1.17 euro,  and claimed to keep my sweaty pits dry for 48hrs. I had even higher hopes once I read it’s bold claims:

Garnier Mineral Roll On Deodorant Extracare is our first 48hr anti-perspirant with Mineralite, a naturally absorbent mineral of volcanic origin. It lets skin breathe and is quick-dry and soft to the touch. Garnier Mineral Deodorant offers double action protection by blocking sweat and odour. Specially designed to soothe and care for skin on the underarms left feeling delicate after shaving or epilation. Enriched with bisabolol and allantoin, it immediately soothes and cares for delicate skin.

Since my usual to-go-to deodorant - Mitchum roll on, seemed to have stopped working, I decided it was worth a try. On initial use, I was quite happy with it. It didn’t cause any irritation and it smelled lovely-I would even go as far as saying it is the nicest fragrenced deodorant that I have used.

Day two, three and four continued to leave me smiling, as it kept me nice and dry all day long. However, (more…)

Cath Kidston Hand Cream: Hands Down My Favourite! September 11, 2010

I have been blessed with extremely dry hands, and as a consequence, I have tried a fair few hand creams. I favour hand creams that are thick, have a nice fragrence, are absorbed quickly and  keep my lámha (irish for hands) moisturised. It’s hard to get a hand cream that ticks all of my boxes.

One that does though is Cath Kidston’s hand cream. Not a brand that you would typically go for your skin care needs, I’ll admit, but when I was in the Kildare Outlet village, I spotted this little pot of loveliness. I was drawn in by the kitchy packaging, the rose fragrance (I’m a sucker for anything that smells like roses :-) ), and of course it was reduced from 8 to 5 euro.

This is a really great hand cream, that doesn’t irritate the eczema on my hands, and  keeps them hydrated for hours. The rose fragrance isn’t one of those artificial rose scents, it truly smells like a bunch of freshly cut roses from the garden (or the shop ;-) ).

While I use cheaper alternatives to tide me over until I pick up my next tin, I always go back to this, particularly once the cold weather strikes. At 80ml’s per tin, I think that this is pretty good value. The hand cream is a pale pink in colour-a nice change from white hand creams me thinks! (more…)

I’m so excited…and I just can’t hide it….. September 7, 2010

I am so excited about this that I had to share it with all of ye-You are now looking at (or reading about, as the case may be) the proud owner of (cue drum roll) the Urban Decay NAKED palette!!!!!

I was in Debenhams on Saturday, having a browse, when I wandered into the perfume/make-up session, when, all of a sudden my eyes honed in on the UD naked palette sitting on the top shelf. I couldn’t believe my eyes, given that this is sold out in so many places! I have been salivating over this since the blogosphere went wild with rave reviews about it. However, given its popularity and elusiveness, I didn’t think I would manage to snag one for myself.

Anyway, back to the story….

They were so hot off the shelves, that they didn’t even have a tester palette.  The woman at the till said that they only get five palettes per store, and that she had also put one away for herself (meaning three were left). It cost 36 euro-a little more expensive that the typical UD eye shadow palettes, but so completely worth it for 12 gorgeous eye shadows, two 24/7 pencil mini eye liners and a mini UD primer potion.

First impressions: (more…)
