Dotty about Dunnes…. July 24, 2010

I am a major fan of Dunnes-I think they are as cheap as Penny’s but find the clothes are much better quality. I also love that they do other lines, such as Savida and Gallery that are slightly more expensive that their main line but the clothes are stylish and really great quality. Their Savida line is a particular favourite of mine.

I have noticed that Dorothy Perkins and Dunnes sometimes stock the exact same items-I was in Dorothy Perkins recently and saw a really cute sundress with butterflies on it, for around the 60 euro mark .That was a little too much for me to pay, at the time but I thought to myself that I would wait till it came down in their sale. A week later, I saw the exact same dress for 35 euro in Dunnes! This isn’t the first time that I’ve see the exact same items in both stores, with Dunnes always being much cheaper than Dorothy Perkins. So if you like shopping in Dorothy Perkins, have a look in Dunnes Stores to see if they have an item you like for a cheaper price before buying .

Anyway……I was out shopping early this morning and nabbed myself this lovely cropped cardi in Dunnes Stores.  I had just nipped in looking for one specific item (which I didn’t end up getting as they didn’t have it), and was on my way out the door when this cardigan caught me eye on the Savida sale rale. I went over for a look, and found that it was only left in one size (mine :-) ) and was reduced from 25 euro to 5 euro.

It is a lovely knitted cream cropped cardigan with cute navy polka dots all over. It has elbow length sleeves with ruching on them also. It is great quality, and would look fantastic with a dark pair of jeans, and a plain navy or white tee underneath. It was such a bargain-especially as I know I am going to wear it loads.

Sun, Sun, Sun, Here We Come…. July 19, 2010

The Bootleg Beatles

Hey everyone-I hope that ye all had a nice weekend.

I had a lovely weekend-I headed off to the Bootleg Beatles down in Kinsale, for the Kinsale Arts festival on Friday night. I am a big Beatles fan, so I was really excited to see them. The band were amazing!!!! If I closed my eyes, I really couldn’t tell the difference between the tribute band and the real thing. The concert was really good-made even better by its stunning backdrop (The concert was held in Charles Fort in Kinsale). All, in all, it was a great night and though I had my umbrella at the ready, it stayed dry and sun even made an appearance :-)

The stunning Charles Fort-Location for the Bootle Beatles Concert

I have been really good shopping wise (apart from splurging on shoes in the Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins online sales). However, I was passing a Next shop yesterday, and decided to go for a browse as their ‘better than half price’ sale had started on Saturday. (more…)

Prints Charming July 11, 2010

I really like prints at the moment, but it can be really hard to find a flattering print that won’t dominate you. I got an email from Dorothy Perkins in my inbox (I sign up for lots of online shop newsletters, in order to find out about sales and get discount codes) and fell in love with these beauties……

I really like this floral twist bandau top-the print has a vintage-y feel about it which I love, and isn’t too big. The top is £12.00 (god knows what the instore price will be though), which seems reasonable. This top would be great day-time look if paired with a cardigan over it, or at night when worn on its own with the right accessories.

I also like the black swallow print on this top-which again could be worn during the day or at night-time. This top is also £12.00.

I haven’t bought these online, as I prefer to try things on before buying them and don’t want to waste time and money returning them if I didn’t like them. I will however, be on the look-out for them instore. I would greatly appreciate if anyone spots them instore and is kind enough to let me know.

Do you like prints??? What prints do you love/hate? Personally, I abhor animal prints!!!

Oops I did it again….I bought more shoes!!! July 11, 2010

I am a bit shoe crazy of late. Firstly, I decided to nab two pairs of shoes in the Warehouse online sale and then, I was checking out the Dorothy Perkins online sale and saw two gorgeous pairs of pumps with even better price tags……which I ended up buying.

The first pair are a lovely nude pair of ballet pumps, with a round toe and large, black bow-I wasn’t 100% sure about these when I bought them as it was hard to tell how big the bow was. They arrived on Friday and I love them-they look great under a pair of jeans, and look really cute and girly. These shoes were reduced from £20.00 to £7.00, with a further 20% discount once I reached the checkout and used a discount code. I thought these were a great bargain-as they came in around £5.60 after the discounts had be applied. Imagine my delight when they arrived and I saw the Irish RRP on the shoes-30euro!!!! I was very, very happy after seeing that though it really highlighted that Dorothy Perkin’s prices do not reflect the current exchange rates, like many English retailers……

Apologies for the small picture-they are out of stock on the wesbite, and this was the only pic I could get

Anyway, after adding these to my basket, I decided to go back for another look, as the delivery rate to Ireland is a fixed rate of £4. That’s when I spotted these lovely petwer, snakeskin effect pumps reduced from £20 to £4.50 (£3.55 after discounts were applied), so I also added these to my basket. When these were delivered on Friday, the Irish RRP was also 30 euro! These are lovely pumps too and go great with black trousers for a smarter look.

See caption of picture above :-)

My final total came to £13.72 including shipping for the two pairs of pumps which is quite a big saving!!! All I have to do now, in order to ensure I keep saving, is to not buy any more shoes ;-)
