I had high hopes for Garnier’s mineral roll on 48 hour ultra dry deodorant. It was a good price-I picked mine for half price in Tesco, for 1.17 euro,  and claimed to keep my sweaty pits dry for 48hrs. I had even higher hopes once I read it’s bold claims:

Garnier Mineral Roll On Deodorant Extracare is our first 48hr anti-perspirant with Mineralite, a naturally absorbent mineral of volcanic origin. It lets skin breathe and is quick-dry and soft to the touch. Garnier Mineral Deodorant offers double action protection by blocking sweat and odour. Specially designed to soothe and care for skin on the underarms left feeling delicate after shaving or epilation. Enriched with bisabolol and allantoin, it immediately soothes and cares for delicate skin.

Since my usual to-go-to deodorant - Mitchum roll on, seemed to have stopped working, I decided it was worth a try. On initial use, I was quite happy with it. It didn’t cause any irritation and it smelled lovely-I would even go as far as saying it is the nicest fragrenced deodorant that I have used.

Day two, three and four continued to leave me smiling, as it kept me nice and dry all day long. However, (more…)

Garnier Nutritionist Caffeine Eye Roll-On June 28, 2010

So this product has been on the market for a while now but, it wasn’t until me recent  success with the Garnier nutritionist serum that I decided that Garnier may be a good skincare brand for me.  I had high hopes for this one, given that “one sells every second seconds” and the positive reviews in magazine.

Again, I bought this for 9euro, when it was on offer in Tesco (I will never pay full price unless I have to :-)  ).  Here’s the pros and cons list:

Pros

  • Very soothing if your eyes are tired-this is mainly attributable to the metal roll-on ball

Cons

  • Quite a lot of product is dispensed from one ‘roll’ of the product over the eye area. This can be messy and also can impact your eye area massage, given that you won’t want to waste the product.
  • Takes quite a long time to dry (5-10 minutes pending how much product you apply)
  • Daily application result in a break-out of little bumps on the skin under my eye
  • Haven’t noticed much of a difference to the skin around my eyes since I started using it three weeks ago.
  • Not particularly moisturising

I was quite disappointed with this one, given it claims and sales figures, and wouldn’t buy it again. Have you had any success with this? What is your favourite eye product?

Garnier Nutritionist Omega Skin Daily Renewing Serum (Why do skin care items have such long names???? ) June 28, 2010

I have never used a serum before, but rather stayed to using oils, such as Trilogy rosehip oil and a hydrating moisturiser. I wanted to try a serum for ages but it wasn’t until I had a bad reaction to a facial oil I was using did I decide to try this one out.

I had gotten a little sachet of this Garnier serum in a magazine, and was surprised when my sensitive skin had no adverse reactions to it. When I was on the look-out for it in Tesco, I saw it on offer for 7euro. I decided that the Gods were favouring me that day and that I needed to buy it!!!

I have been using it for approx. 5-6 weeks now and am thrilled with it. The first two weeks of applying it morning and night underneath my moisturiser, I saw absolutely no difference to the skin on my face and neck. Regardless, I decided to continue using it, even if it was just to use it up rather than seeing it go to waste. From week 3 onwards, I noticed my skin wasn’t as flaky or red, I didn’t need to use as much of my moisturiser when applying it or apply moisturiser as regularly.

In fact, I would go as far as saying that my skin was glowing and lately, my skin care routine has been simplified to just cleansing, applying serum and sun cream, as my skin is hydrated enough from using these products.

If you are still unsure about buying it, see my pro’s con’s list below:

Pros:

  • Light, non-greasy texture
  • Dried quickly
  • Lovely fragrance
  • Doesn’t irritate sensitive skin
  • Hydrating
  • Product dispensed by a pump, so little product is wasted.
  • Good value for money

Cons:

  • Product is dispensed by a pump, which doesn’t allow you to scrape what product is left at the end, when the bottle is used up :-)

I really like this serum and would definitely re-purchase it which is saying a lot from me. It is a lovely product with an even lovelier price tag. Definitely watch out for those offers in supermarkets on Garnier products, to save yourself a few euro.

I’m really interested in trying out the day and night cream in this range. Has anyone tried them, and if so, what are their thoughts?
