If only.......
I never thought I would see the day, when I would look forward to the winter! Some of you may exclaim that this is surely the words of a crazy person but let me reason with you before you make up your mind yet…. I REALLY needed summer this year, I needed some fresh air, the summer sun warming my face while I chilled out in the garden reading a book or taking a stroll in the park. I needed to smell the aroma of freshly cut grass and sun cream, to shrug off the jumpers, coats and rain battered umbrella in order to make way for my summer wardrobe. I needed to look forward to long bright evenings, and the chance of possibility. However, all of this is scuppered by, I must admit (and I’m sure that many of you will agree) one of the worst summer’s we’ve had in awhile, and by Ireland’s standards, that’s saying something.
So, my wishing for the change of season means that at least it is acceptable to be plodding around, soaked to the skin, shivering with the cold, as you jacket remains inadequate in keeping out the wind and rain. A least if it was winter, it would be acceptable to have wet hair plastered to your dripping cheeks, while you are wrapped up in warm knitted jumpers, soft thick scarves and toasty woollen coats. At least our wardrobe’s would reflect the season we are in and we would be suitably prepared.
This summer, not only has it ruined people hard earned holiday’s from work, and the flimsy summer wardrobe that was ill prepared for the elements, but it has caused many people’s wallet’s to be stretched even further, job worries and the dreaded R word…..the recession. So, all I have to say is-Roll on Winter!
