Lush Lite Lip

In ‘that’ none, but there sure are quite a few in the title! Well, now that I have gotten my childish joke out-of-the-way…. J  I think it’s time to talk about the topic at hand. I think it’s already firmly established that I am a connoisseur of sorts, of lip balms and the like. I’ve had this in my make-up bag for a while and hadn’t used for any length of a time. I am trying to be good at the moment, so I am picking one product and using it religiously, until it is all gone (that way I don’t feel guilty when a new makeup/skin care item makes its way into my hands).

Lush ‘lite lip’ lip balm has a nice marshmallow and rose fragrance. The smell isn’t too overpowering though, so it’s perfect for everyday use. It comes in a cute little silver tin, as you can see above, and is a solid lip balm. In order to use it, you will need to heat the lip balm up a bit, by rubbing the tin between your hands, or rubbing it with your finger, until it softens enough to use it. I usually just keep in it my pocket, and the body heat is enough to keep it soft for whenever I need it. When you put it on, it has an oily rather than a creamy texture.

Even though this description does not sound particularly nice, it does feel nice on and is really nourishing. It has really nice ingredients, such as shea butter, beeswax, apricot kernel, corn, olive and rose absolute oils. As it has a more oily, liquid finish, it gives your lips a nice glossy look, making the need for lip gloss redundant.

I must say that after using it consistently for 2 weeks solid, my lips are definitely in better condition and feel much softer. With all the harsh wind and cold weather that we’re having or expecting to have, I think that this is a must.

A little goes a long way with this lip balm, and even though the tin is quite small and you wouldn’t think that it’s good value for money, it does last a long time. This was my first time trying out any of the Lush lip balms, but I think after using this one I would definitely try out some of the others!

Vichy Wonder Balm November 4, 2008

I must admit-I have the driest skin in the world! No amount of moisturiser seems to get rid of the flakiness and tight feeling on my face (I know, it’s a pretty attractive picture I’m painting here…). I’m sure all women with dry skin can sympathise. I find that I go through so many moisturisers, serums, balms, etc., that are for dry skin that really don’t work all that well and frankly, can be very expensive!

However, I have discovered a newly launched product by Vichy recently, that caught my eye. Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Balm has been recently launched to the Aqualia skincare line and is now priced at 24euro. It has no parabens, and has got the nicest consistency I have every tried. It’s quite thick, however it is absorbed into the skin really quickly, and claims to act as a cutaneous barrier around the skin. I must admit, I wasn’t expecting much but it really soothed my skin (which is very sensitive to heat, cold, weather, etc.) and shock, horror, kept it moisturizer until that evening, which has NEVER happens with other creams I have used. It is quite simply amazing and I would recommend everyone that has dry, sensitive skin to try it.

Granted it’s a bit pricey, but its worth it. Also, if you would like to try it out first before committing, most Irish magazines, i.e. Irish Tatler, U,  have sample of it, in them. Has anyone else tried it-I’d love to hear what ye think?
