The Bootleg Beatles

Hey everyone-I hope that ye all had a nice weekend.

I had a lovely weekend-I headed off to the Bootleg Beatles down in Kinsale, for the Kinsale Arts festival on Friday night. I am a big Beatles fan, so I was really excited to see them. The band were amazing!!!! If I closed my eyes, I really couldn’t tell the difference between the tribute band and the real thing. The concert was really good-made even better by its stunning backdrop (The concert was held in Charles Fort in Kinsale). All, in all, it was a great night and though I had my umbrella at the ready, it stayed dry and sun even made an appearance :-)

I have been really good shopping wise (apart from splurging on shoes in the Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins online sales). However, I was passing a Next shop yesterday, and decided to go for a browse as their ‘better than half price’ sale had started on Saturday. (more…)

My Mother Always Said, “If You Got A Bargain-Share It!” July 2, 2010

Usually when it comes to sales, I don’t go in with an agenda, I simply pick up something that is a good bargain or catches my eye. However, this year the budget is stretched a bit tight so I’ve had to alter my approach (it sounds a little like a military operation J ) in how I go about the sales this year. My approach is quite simple though, only buy what clothes, shoes, etc. that I need and stay away from anything which catches my eye and doesn’t fall into the aforementioned category. First up on the list of needed items are shoes.

Unfortunately I haven’t had much opportunity to indulge in this year’s summer sales, and haven’t had much time to browse around because I have been so busy. I couldn’t however, let the sales go buy though so I decided I would do my bargain hunting from the comfort of my own home. The shoes that I had in mind are flat/pump-style shoes or shoes with a bit of a wedge. Not the most exciting, I know, but because I am so tall, these are the type of shoes I wear on a daily basis.

The disadvantage of leaving my sale shopping so late is that a lot of the shoes that I like are gone in my size, leaving only the small sizes left. However, when browsing the net today, I thought I would cast my eye on Warehouse. Warehouse isn’t one you instantly think of when you are looking for shoes but they do lovely flats.

I’m glad I had a look, as I struck gold with these I think.

The first pair I spotted were these lovely leather ballet pumps (above) in pewter, with a cute bow on the front reduced from £25.00 to……wait for it…..wait for it……..£10.00 (13 euro)!!! I was a very happy camper, particularly when I got to the till and found out that they were offering an additional 20% off. That meant that my lovely shoes would only cost me 10.40euro. Sure, you’d pay that in Pennys for a pair with a cardboard sole!!!!

When I checked the shipping however, I found that it was 5.95euro. Not the most outrageous price for shipping but it certainly reduced the size of the saving. After seeing the shipping costs, I decided that for it worth my while, I should go back and have another look and see if there was anything else that I needed.  I ended up spotting these beauties (below)- leather and suede pumps with a tassel and fringing in a lovely dove grey. These were reduced from £28.00 to £10 pounds, and I also got an additional 20% off of them too.

In the end, the total worked out at 26.75euro for two pairs of shoes. Quite a good bargain in my books. Fingers crossed that when they arrive they will fit and match the image.

Have you had any luck in this year’s sales? What did you buy and how much did you save?
